Check manual page of systemtime

Synchronization of Operating System Time

Distribution Official part of Checkmk
License GPLv2
Supported Agents Windows vSphere Netapp
This check monitors the system time of the monitored host. It computes the difference between the time measured on the monitored host and the time of the Checkmk server when the data is processed. The resulting difference is refered to as "offset" here (this is also the metrics name). By default the service is always OK, but levels can be configured for the measured offset.

As the offset includes the systematic time delay between querying the host and querying the reference time, it is never expected to be zero.

This service is created for hosts monitored by the special agent for NetApp, the special agent for vSphere or the Windows agent. For the special agents the local time is measured during the agent run, so the offset should be smaller than the execution time of the agent. For Windows the offset also includes the time that passes between the receiving of the data and processing it.
