The plug-in monitors the metric backend managed via `omd`.

It monitors the availability by issuing a `HTTP GET` request to a dedicated ping endpoint via localhost. It captures and displays all errors encountered during the connection attempt.

It also monitors the current number of custom metrics. Warning and critical thresholds can be configured.
