This check is based on the RED (Rate, Error, Duration) Method for monitoring services. It monitors the amount and rate of errors through the following OTel metrics

- http.server.requests.duration which is emitted by http services

- rpc.server.duration which is emitted by rpc services

or if none of those is available:

- traces.span.metrics.duration which is emitted on a collector level and is used as fallback

Item

The name of the metric.

Discovery

One service is created for each metric.
