Werk #9436: Data volume: Start using ext4 instead of ext3

Component Firmware
Title Data volume: Start using ext4 instead of ext3
Date Jun 30, 2021
Level Trivial Change
Class New Feature
Compatibility Incompatible - Manual interaction might be required
Appliance Version 1.4.16

Because in some situations the filesystem driver enables ext4 flags for ext3 filesystems, we now fully switch to ext4 filesystems. This way we can be sure to use the same filesystem for the data volume on all appliances as of this firmware version.

The firmware read-only and read-write overlays still use ext3 because the bootloader we use only supports ext2 and ext3. We want to avoid an update at the moment.

Please note, if you run a cluster setup:

After all nodes were updated, the cluster has to be disconnected once, to load the new cluster configuration.

Therefore, please go to "Main Menu" - "Clustering" and use the button "Disconnect Cluster".

Once disconnected, you can use the "Back" button to go to the "Clustering" menu again.

Now choose "Reconnect Cluster" and wait until the cluster is reconnected.

If you run a single setup you can update as always.
