For maximum compatibility, we keep the virtual hardware version of the virt1 very low. However, it was brought to our attention, that the current version vmx-8 is missing some security related features. We therefore increase the default version to vmx-10. That is still allows deployment on very old vSphere versions, while making important security features available. This only affects new deployments of the OVA template.
