To ensure the integrity the firmware you are installing on your Appliance, the firmware contents are now signed by us. The signature is verified in the moment you upload the firmware to your device.
In case the signature is not valid, the firmware will be rejected and can not be installed.
In the moment a firmware is not signed, the appliance will warn you about the fact after uploading the file. However, you can still choose to install the firmware. This handling is necessary to allow downgrades to 1.6.x and allow the use of non signed developer or test builds.
