Since 1.7.0 and the migration to postfix as the local MTA, fresh installed Checkmk appliances were opening 25/tcp on the network. This was not intended and is caused by a wrong initial configuration.
Workaround for 1.7.0 and 1.7.1: Once the hostname or mail configuration of the appliance is configured through the web confguratiion, the postfix configuration is updated and the service is not exposing a network port anymore.
For all devices initially setup with 1.7.2 the issue is fixed.
