Werk #9347: MAC address failover parameter of bondings is now configurable

Component Firmware
Title MAC address failover parameter of bondings is now configurable
Date Feb 23, 2018
Appliance Version 1.3.19
Level Trivial Change
Class Bug Fix
Compatibility Compatible - no manual interaction needed

The virtual appliance was unable to handle failover situations correctly at least on the VirtualBox 5.x platform when having two network interfaces on the same network involved in a bonding.

The problem is that the failover bonding configuration is trying to set the MAC addresses of all member network interfaces to an equal MAC address (the one of the first network interface), but once the bonding makes another than the first network interface the active one, the connectivity is lost. It seems that the MAC address change was not accepted by all components.

To fix this situation, you can now configure the bondings parameter "MAC address failover" to "active".

Have a look at the help text of this parameter for more details.
