Hi Sebastian! You have been in software sales for more than 10 years and have been part of our D-A-CH team since 2020. Thank you for taking the time to answer the questions.

What made you decide to start at Checkmk?

First of all, I have to mention that I joined Checkmk in my second attempt. At first I was hesitant to apply again after 1.5 years, since I had given a rejection once. But as it turned out, everyone was very happy that I started a second attempt. And it was exactly this openness that made me accept the second time. It is very important to me to have fun at work, both with colleagues and with customers, and that what you do is appreciated. And that is 100% true at Checkmk.

What do you find most fascinating about your job at Checkmk, and what are your tasks?

As an Account Executive ,I was always able to freely design my sales activities, try out different ways to get in touch with customers and inspire them for Checkmk. What motivates me a lot here is the fact that Checkmk is already very well known and you get directly into an interesting exchange with IT people. What is special for me is that I was allowed to participate in many projects or even be responsible for them myself, in addition to my work as an Account Executive. Both projects to improve processes and to create completely new processes. This gives me a lot of variety and flexibility in my activities. After 2,5 years as an Account Executive, I got the opportunity to take over the responsibility for the Checkmk Sales Development Team. Here I can work even more on interesting projects and share my sales experience with my team to help them in their daily lives.

What does a work week look like for you?.

The beauty of sales is that every week, even every day, can be different. Today a customer needs a standard offer, the next day an individual design of an offer to cover all eventualities. As I worked with new customers on the one hand, and existing customers on the other, the requirements and questions here were completely different, so I never got bored. In addition to enquiries that came in via our website, I also approached a lot of companies to make them aware of us. This happened through various channels such as phone, email or social media. In my new role as a Teamlead it turned more into an internal process optimization role and coaching SDRs, AEs and jump into hard calls to support.

Which tools/technologies do you work with in your team?

In addition to the classic tools such as email, Office, CRM or Zoom, we are also increasingly using new tools such as Slack to simplify internal communication or LinkedIn to create a more open customer approach. We also keep testing different tools to support the sales process like Lusha, Apollo.io or different video creation tools.
